Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry has helped domestic agricultural equipment and machinery (alsintan) companies to participate in the prestigious 16th Salon International de l'Agriculture au Maroc (SIAM).

The agricultural show is being held in Meknes, Morocco, from April 22–28, 2024.

The event could potentially help increase market access for domestic machinery products, secretary of the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industry (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Sopar Halomoan Sirait, said in a statement issued by the ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday.

That is because Morocco is an African economic hub and a trade gateway to Europe.

Sirait said that Indonesia's presence at the 16th SIAM Meknes is aimed at showcasing the capabilities of its agricultural machinery industry.

"As well as encourage non-traditional market penetration to increase market access and business networking between domestic industry and global industry, especially agricultural equipment and machinery in Africa and Europe," he added.

He said that Indonesia's participation in the exhibition is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and the Indonesian Embassy in Rabat.

The Indonesian government is aiming to highlight the superiority of the country's agricultural machinery products and their capability to compete globally through the Indonesian Pavilion at the exhibition.

Twelve companies have passed the curation to join the exhibition, including PT Golden Agin Nusa, PT CBA, PT Indobaja Prima Murni, PT D-Prix, PT Thanks to Machine Faith, and PT Star Metal.

They further include PT Prosperous Hedgehog League, GENPRO, PT Cipta Agri Nusantara, PT Phonna Raya, PT Bahagia Jaya Sejahtera, and CV Mandiri Garlica Pratama.

Helping the domestic machinery industry representatives attend the event would also encourage the contribution of exports of high-tech Indonesian industrial products, which is targeted to reach 13 percent by 2024, he added.

"Indonesia's participation in this event is very important for forming an industrial ecosystem,” Sirait said.

He expressed the hope that Indonesia would welcome the potential for collaboration with various international partners, including in increasing market access, investment, human resource development, research and development, as well as other areas of cooperation in Africa and Europe.
