Hit or miss storms today, with more unsettled weather tomorrow
Today will be a tad bit cooler than yesterday.
Temperatures this morning are coming in on a warm note, with many of us in the upper 50s and low 60s. Highs today will be topping off in the mid and upper 60s, after a mild start to the day. The morning will bring mostly cloudy skies, but this afternoon we will see some scattered thunderstorms. Chances for rain today will be lower in the morning, but we could still see some light rain. The storms look to mainly form after lunchtime and through the evening.
The storms will begin popping up on the western half of our area around 1 PM, spreading eastward through sunset. The storms today will be hit or miss, with the greatest coverage of rain around 6 PM. Overnight we could still see a few showers, mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 50s otherwise. Some light rain will be possible tomorrow morning, with more thunderstorms developing into Friday afternoon. Around 1 PM tomorrow these storms will begin to fire, and as we head into the rest of the afternoon, they cover a much wider area than they will today. Most of us will see thunderstorms between 5 and 8 PM tomorrow.
The storms that pop up today won’t be dropping much rain across the area, with only a quarter of an inch expected in the rainiest spots. Tomorrow that’s a different story, with most of us looking to pick up between a quarter of an inch to half an inch of rain throughout the day. We may see isolated instances of flooding, so stay weather aware.
As we head into the weekend we could see some lingering showers on Saturday, with highs cooling down a bit into the mid 60s. Sunday starts a bit of a drying trend, as we see sunshine for the start of next week. Temperatures at the start of next week will be back in the upper 70s and low 80s.
