There are a bunch of new faces at the Met Gala this year, including Clairo. The singer arrived made her Met Gala debut at the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” carpet and interpreted the “Tailored for You” dress code in a gorgeous Valentino look.
Clairo kept things simple, with a tiered pleated skirt, complete with velour drop waist, and what appears to be a tweed jacket on top. For accessories, she opted for dainty black lace gloves and big earrings, paired with makeup by celebrity MUA Amber Dreadon using Valentino Beauty.
But let’s talk about the real star of the show: the cat purse.
I have so many questions. Is this a functional purse? Does it open? What could she possibly be hiding in there? And is it just me, or is that cat looking at me funny? Help. I’m scared but also weirdly enchanted? I think I would die for this cat.
Before the Met, Clairo teased her Valentino look on Instagram, sharing a photo on her Stories of a pearl Valentino necklace tangled up with her headphones.
Clairo recently chatted to Cosmopolitan about her wildly successful career thus far, saying, “It’s nice having three records that feel like certain moments in my life.”
“I was 20 years old when I made Immunity, and then I got existential and made this second record where I was so scared of things that the girl on the third album wasn’t even thinking about,” she added. “Especially with ‘Sofia’ recently, I feel like I’ve squashed all the beef I have with some of my past songs because people have their own connection to them. So what’s the point of not acknowledging them?”
