Cam Skattebo's contract with New York Giants: How much will the Arizona State running back make in the NFL?

After bulldozing his way into the national spotlight at Arizona State, Cam Skattebo is now taking the next big step in his football journey with the New York Giants.

And while his college stats are eye-popping, it's his modest rookie contract and underdog mentality that are grabbing just as much attention.

Drafted with the 105th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Skattebo's new four-year deal with the Giants is worth approximately $5.27 million but it includes no guaranteed money, an unusual setup for a fourth-rounder.

Despite this, Skattebo appears ready to embrace the challenge and prove his worth in a backfield that's eager for a fresh face following the departure of former star Saquon Barkley.

For the Giants, Skattebo represents more than just a middle-round pick-he's a key part of a broader effort to reimagine their offense.

With Barkley now wearing green after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants have turned to the hard-nosed, no-nonsense running style that Skattebo perfected at Arizona State.

Wearing jersey No. 4, he offers a bruising presence that could help New York maintain its ground-and-pound identity.

In 2024, Skattebo carved up defenses en route to 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, setting a new school record. He also racked up 2,316 all-purpose yards, showcasing his versatility as both a ball carrier and receiver out of the backfield.

Those numbers weren't just impressive-they were elite. And while he may not possess the breakaway speed that some NFL backs flaunt, his vision, balance, and power could prove invaluable in short-yardage and goal-line situations.

The financials of his rookie contract reflect the gamble the Giants are making. Skattebo will carry a base salary and cap hit of $840,000 in 2025, which makes up just 0.29 percent of the team's total salary cap.

That's a bargain if he even comes close to replicating his college productivity at the pro level.

Given New York's need for affordable contributors, especially at skill positions, Skattebo could quickly become one of the most valuable assets on their roster.
