Britain's Got Talent star Tom Ball is barely recognisable from his days as a contestant on the ITV show in 2022.

The 27-year-old former teacher rose to fame with his powerful performances, including a cover of Sam Smith's Writing's on the Wall, which wowed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams, and Alesha Dixon.

After finishing third in the competition, behind winner Axel Blake and runner-up Jamie Leahey, Tom went on to compete in America's Got Talent: All Stars and later returned to the UK version to voice Noodle The Cat in 2023.

Since his time on the show, Tom has pursued a full-time music career, releasing his own album and embarking on a debut tour last year.

However, Tom has transformed his career as well as his personal life.

Following a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, he has overhauled his diet and fitness regimen to improve his health.

Sharing updates on social media, including a new haircut, Tom explained: "It was purely that I want to feel better. I want to be able to stand on stage and not get tired. I wanna be able to sing better."

He added, "I just want to be healthier and subsequently, you know, you end up looking a little bit better, and I had a haircut. It was a really nice moment."

He shared with The Mirror his commitment to a healthier lifestyle, hitting the gym four times a week and watching his diet as he gears up for an 'exciting' future.

Last year, Tom talked about the profound effect Britain's Got Talent has had on his life.

"I've been so fortunate, and I feel such a deep connection with Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent," he expressed during a Metro interview.

"It changed my life overnight, because suddenly I was known and I had this platform, and I was so incredibly lucky to have this platform. And it gave me the opportunity to seek other opportunities, to sign my first record deal, to go on my first tour."

Britain's Got Talent also played a role in his personal life, he revealed, adding: "And also, it does sound a little bit corny, but without it, I probably wouldn't have my family right now, because with the pregnancy we had to go through IVF treatment, and for anyone that's been through IVF knows it's a rollercoaster."

Tom and his partner Hannah are celebrating ten years together and were overjoyed to welcome their daughter Adeline in January.

Tom took to Instagram to announce the arrival of his daughter, overwhelmed with love: "We're absolutely bursting with love, and the middle name 'Hope' reflects everything our little miracle has given us throughout a long, difficult journey."

He added, "IVF has now changed our life, and we're so thankful to have our beautiful little girl. Honestly, it's our dream come true."

Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
