BOLIVAR, Mo. (KY3) - Missouri Beef Days kicked off today in Bolivar Mo. The event is a week long, specifically from May 4-11, and celebrates all things meat, both the industry and the product.

The day began with a cornhole tournament, beer and live music near the Polk County Museum from 10-6, and ended with dinner at the Diamond S Sale Barn at 6:30.

Guest speakers also attended the dinner, one of which was Governor Mike Parson, who is a Bolivar native and proud supporter of the events.

“What we’re doing is we’re showing our appreciation for farmers and ranchers all across our state,” Governor Parson told KY3, “But I’ll even take it one step further, all over our country. You know, we’re so blessed to be living in the middle of the United States, where agriculture we’re pretty blessed to have cattle, and pork, and chicken, and row crops, and a lot of that where people don’t have that. So I think it is to show our appreciation but also to be thankful for what we do have.”

The night ended with presentation of awards and a silent auction, but there is still more to come throughout the rest of the week.
